Argyle player ratings from 3-0 defeat away to Bristol Rovers

It is seven away League One games without a win this season for Plymouth Argyle after they were beaten 3-0 by Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium. Here are the Plymouth Live ratings for each of the Pilgrims’ players:

Mike Cooper 6 – Conceded three goals from six Rovers on-target attempts but in all honesty there was not much he could do about any of them.

Will Aimson 5 – Like the rest of Argyle’s defensive trio, Aimson never looked comfortable against the Rovers strikeforce of Brandon Hanlon and Sam Nicholson.

Jerome Opoku 5 – It is asking a lot of the relatively inexperienced loan signing from Fulham to be the dominant force that Argyle need in the heart of their defence.

Kell Watts 6 – Gives it his all, win, draw or lose. Booked in the 40th minute for a foul on Sam Nicholson. The 21-year-old is finding out league football can be an unforgiving environment.

Tyrese Fornah 5 – Had his hands full with Rovers’ Chelsea loanee Luke McCormick, who played in an attacking role behind strikers Brandon Hanlon and Sam Nicholson.

Joe Edwards 6 – Gave Argyle a good attacking outlet from the right wing-back role in the first half so it was surprising when he was replaced at the start of the second period by Byron Moore.

Panutche Camara 6 – Had some good moments, displaying his appetite for hard work on and off the ball, but could not provide as much attacking impetus as he would have hoped.

Ben Reeves 5 – Brought into the starting line-up due to the one-match suspension to Danny Mayor. Had one first-time shot saved but was taken off at half-time as part of a double substitution.

Conor Grant 7 STAR MAN – Some of his set piece delivery could have been better but he put in a good shift, both at left wing-back in the first half and in central midfield after the interval.

Ryan Hardie 6 – A frustrating game for the recalled striker. Lots of aspects of his play were good but he was let down by his finishing as he spurned some excellent chances.

Luke Jephcott 5 – The usually reliable penalty box predator put one good chance wide of a post as Argyle had a good spell before the interval but could not reduce their 2-0 deficit at the time.

George Cooper 6 – Sent on at the start of the second half to play at left wing-back. Saw plenty of the ball, shot wide with one attempt and appeared to be fouled for what would have been a penalty to the Pilgrims.

Byron Moore 5 – Got into some good crossing positions playing at right wing-back but he did not make the most of that with some hit-and-miss delivery.

Dom Telford 5 – The former Rovers loan signing replaced Luke Jephcott in a straight swap up front in the 64th minute.

Lewis Macleod – The midfielder made his comeback from a long-term knee injury as an 84th minute substitute for Conor Grant.

Frank Nouble – Was extra firepower for Argyle when he replaced Tyrese Fornah in the 84th minute but, soon afterwards, Rovers got their third goal and it was all over for the Pilgrims.
