Celeb spot Salcombe packed with visitors as temperatures soar

Salcombe was packed out with tourists and locals today (July 30) as hundreds of people filled its streets.

Glorious sun baked the town as Chairman of JCB, and friend of the PM, Lord Bamford’s luxurious super yacht sat anchored in the harbour before leaving for Cornwall.

Earlier this week, Devon Live reported concerns over a lack of social distancing in the town.

Speaking to the BBC, Salcombe’s Town Mayor Nikki Turton said holidaymakers visiting the Devon town seem to “think they are in a bubble” and do not have to socially distance.

Despite the Town Mayor’s plea, it appears that the message has been disregarded as many continue to line the streets.
