Dodgy characters and drink drivers up before Plymouth magistrates

A whole host of dodgy drug and drink drivers join the usual thieves and thugs in this week’s magistrates list.

With the courts back in full swing after the long coronavirus closedown, scores of people have faced the JPs.

They include a burglar who stole models from the Antics store in the city centre and infamous one-legged beggar Anthony Fox, who keeps straying into areas where he is banned.

Here is this week’s list:

ASSAULT:

JORDAN PETER LEE EVANS, aged 23, of Alexandra Road, Ford: assaulting a woman by beating – eight-week curfew, ordered to pay £100 compensation, £90 victim surcharge and £40 costs.

NORMAN TORDOFF, aged 38, of George Place, Stonehouse: assaulting a Police Community Support Officer as an emergency worker – fined £40, ordered to pay £50 compensation, £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

THEFT AND DISHONESTY:

CHRISTOPHER LLEWELLYN BARNES, aged 38, of George Place, Stonehouse: theft of items from a vehicle, theft of baby wipes, vehicle interference, causing criminal damage to a car, possession of crack cocaine and theft of batteries from Boots – jailed for 28 weeks, ordered to pay £120 compensation.

KIERAN BARNES, aged 33, of Southern Terrace, Lipson: taking a car without the consent of the owner, in charge of a motor vehicle while over the drink-drive limit, and driving without insurance – three-month curfew, ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

DRINK:

ALLAN CAIRNS, aged 32, of Sheridan Close, Manadon: drink-driving – banned from driving for 12 months, fined £400, ordered to pay £85 costs and £40 victim surcharge.

BEVERLY CAIRNS, aged 49, of Wiltshere Close, Lipson: drink-driving, driving without due care and attention, failing to report an accident where damage was caused – 12-month community order with Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, banned from driving for two months, fined £100, ordered to pay £90 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

DAVID JONATHAN HALL, aged 34, of St Leonards Road, Prince Rock: drink-driving, failing to stop after a damage accident and driving without insurance – banned from driving for 18 months, fined £320, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge and ordered to pay £310 compensation.

SAMANTHA HARDING, aged 26, of Rydal Close, Estover: drink-driving – banned from driving for 13 months, fined £311, ordered to pay £310 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

KAREN PRESCOTT, aged 43, of Moorland Drive, Plympton: drink-driving – banned from driving 24 months, fined £350, ordered to pay £85 costs and £35 victim surcharge.

ANTHONY GEORGE WHITTAKER, aged 42, of Edith Street, St Budeaux: drink-driving – two-month curfew, banned from driving for two years, ordered to pay £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

DRUGS:

MARK JOHN LEWIS, aged 50, of George Place, Stonehouse: driving while unfit through drugs – fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

DONALD PEMBERTON, aged 59, of Victoria Road, St Budeaux: driving with above the legal limit of cannabis in the blood – banned from driving for 12 months, fined £112, ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge.

BARRY CHRISTOPHER RICHARDSON, aged 55, of Sackville Close, Plymstock: possession of cannabis – fined £80, ordered to pay £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

RYAN STABB, aged 20, of Manor Drive, Ivybridge: driving with above the legal limit of cannabis in the blood – fined £160, £85 costs and ordered to pay £32 victim surcharge.

OTHERS:

ALEXANDER JAMES BROCK, aged 34, of Taunton Avenue, Whitleigh: threatening behaviour – fined £40, ordered to pay £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.

SHAUN ROBERT KAVANAGH, aged 33, of Landulph Gardens, Barne Barton: failing to stop after an accident which caused an injury and failing to report the accident, driving without due care and attention – 12-week prison sentence suspended for 12 months, ordered to pay costs of £620 and £122 victim surcharge.

ANTHONY FOX, aged 58, of Union Street, Stonehouse: two breaches of a criminal behaviour order – 12-month community order with Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, fined £50, ordered to pay £95 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

BRENNON GRENNEY, aged 26, of Clifton Street, Greenbank: possession of a lock knife in public without good reason or lawful excuse – 12-month community order with Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, fined £120, ordered to pay £85 costs and £95 victim surcharge.

CONSTANTINOU OXINOS, aged 53, of Ford Hill, Stoke: racially-aggravated threatening behaviour – fined £180, ordered to pay £40 costs and £32 victim surcharge.

BRIAN ROBERT POPE, aged 53, of Alexandra Road, Mutley: threatening behaviour – fined £80, ordered to pay £85 costs and £34 victim surcharge.
