Emergency services are continuing to deal with an incident in north Devon involving concerns over a person in water.
Police were called at 4.20pm on Monday afternoon (September 14) following concerns for the welfare of someone in a river near Kings Nympton, near Chulmleigh.
The nearby A377 has been closed in both directions, affecting traffic travelling between Barnstaple and Crediton, while train travel is also affected.
Police are diverting traffic using local roads through South Molton and Chulmleigh.
A Devon and Cornwall Police force incident manager said: “Police were called at 4.20pm following concerns for the welfare of someone in the water near Kings Nympton.
“Emergency services remain at the scene and the incident is ongoing.
“The road is closed as there has been a big response. The incident is affecting trains as well.”
