SUMMARY:Henry VIII and his Groom
DESCRIPTION:Henry VIII & his Groom: A Comedy Drama About Friendship and Loss \n“Henry VIII and his Groom” is a hilarious and moving new play that explores the unlikely friendship between King Henry VIII and his Groom of the Stool\, William Compton. Set in the opulent world of the Tudor court\, this play offers a unique perspective on the complexities of power\, loyalty\, and grief. Toilet humour has never been so sophisticated or heart breaking. \nAs Henry grapples with the loss of his children\, he finds solace in the company of his loyal servant\, Will. Their conversations\, often centered around the mundane task of wiping the king’s bottom\, evolve into a deep and meaningful bond as he breaks into the king we love to hate. \nThis witty and thought-provoking comedy is not to be missed. “Henry VIII & his Groom” is playing at  the Barbican Theatre\, Friday September 11th at 7.30pm.

SUMMARY:W : A RETURN TO OZ + CALLING YOU - Sun 6th Sept 2026
DESCRIPTION:PLYMOUTH SCREENING! Where is the W? What is the W? ‘W : A Return to Oz’\, an exploration into the famous Warehouse Club. \nWitness the rise and fall of The Warehouse\, a rave venue from Plymouth and times gone by now reduced to a derelict shell. We explore its history\, its people and the future. An amateur filmmaker-explorer finds the building in an empty derelict state\, long after the prosperous life and energy it endured through the 90s. Through a combination of archives and stories of people who lived there\, the film explores through the medium of analogue what once was and how even a now silent derelict shell can become the centre of the universe. \nCome join us for another additional screening of W : A Return to Oz in Plymouth. The film will be screened at the cosy and premium cinema Everyman Plymouth at Royal William Yard. The film will be held in Screen 3. \nBefore our main presentation\, we will be showing Calling You (15 minutes)\, produced by the same team as W: A Return to Oz. Synopsis: \nAfter a late middle-aged father falls mysteriously into a coma that transports him to an idealised version of his past\, his daughter must do all things necessary to rescue him from an eternal trap. For more information visit our Website and socials (Facebook and Instagram – @_calling.you_) \nAll proceeds made in the event will go towards cost recovery for the film and towards film festival and exhibition fees for future events. \nAgenda \n17:00 – Arrivals (Screen 3) \n17:30 – Calling You (15 min) (Screen 3) \n17:55 – W: A Return to Oz Showing (Screen 3) \n18:30 – Film Ends / Drinks in the Bar \nEveryman Cinema also offers up to 3 hours free parking for anyone parking in Royal William Yard. Just park anywhere in RWY\, head straight up the cinema and ask a member of staff about registering your car. \nEveryman is also a restaurant offering very nice food / drinks so you are more than welcome to have dinner and drinks beforehand or afterwards. SUMMARY:A New Mythology for Plymouth Sound
DESCRIPTION:A New Mythology for Plymouth Sound \nAhoy! Join Plymouth Laureate of Words\, R.C. Thomas on a journey of Plymouth Sound to explore mythologies\, folktales and legends. Taking inspiration from the sea and the tales that have come before us\, in this collaborative and immersive workshop\, we’ll set about writing our very own tale\, sharing our experiences with future generations of the creatures lurking in the deep here in Plymouth’s waters in 2026. \n  \nBeginning onshore\, you’ll be briefed and allocated tasks to collect all the evidence we’ll need to document our sea-faring encounters\, before heading out on a boat around the Sound. Back on shore\, we’ll look over our findings\, putting them in order to share with the public. \n  \nThis workshop will lead to a live event in 2027 in which our tale will be told. This part will be optional and will also be open to others joining us to tell our story. \n  \nMeeting at the Royal William Yard Marina\, the schedule will be: \n  \n4pm – 4.45pm              Onshore workshop at RWY \n4.45pm – 5.45pm        Boat Trip \n5.45pm – 6.30pm        Onshore workshop at RWY \n  \nSuitable for all abilities\, 8+. \n  \nTickets: https://online.plymouthboattrips.co.uk/trips/view/b5127e2a-0696-4594-94cf-9a959235418e?passengers=2
