Flooding, fallen trees and crashes on roads – latest

Flooding and a fallen tree have created hurdles on roads this morning, after a night of weather mayhem across Devon and Cornwall.

It comes as multiple red flood warnings were issued across the two counties.

In Kingskerswell, Whiddon road is closed in both directions due to a fallen tree.

Roads traffic and monitoring service, Inrix reports: ”Whiddon Road in both directions closed due to fallen tree from Kingskerswell to Kingskerswell.

”Near The Coachman’s Cottage.”

In Teigngrace on the A382 Bovey Tracey Road there are reports of flooding.

Eighteen people have been evacuated from their caravans in Cornwall, after a major flooding incident in the early hours of this morning.

And heavy rain has flooded the railway line between Liskeard and Looe and trains will be unable to run between these stations until around 2pm.

A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team described last night’s weather as ‘vile’ causing ‘standing water and soft verges’.
