Friends of ‘kind and thoughtful’ Jay Haynes launch funeral appeal

An online fundraising campaign has been launched to give a much-loved Exeter man a proper send off.

Jay Haynes had been reported missing from the Exwick area of the city, police later confirmed that officers searching for Jay had found a body on Tuesday (February 9). Officers had been searching for the missing man in Exeter since Monday morning.

Since receiving the devastating news, Jay’s friend Emma Carnell has made the decision to launch a fundraiser to contribute to funeral costs.

Emma said: ”I first met Jay when he was nine-years old at Exeter Gang show. He was such a kind and thoughtful man who loved his wife and family.

‘We want to raise as much money as possible to help pay for the funeral.”

She said: ”It’s such a shock. Mental health is so complex and we just want to help raise awareness, even if we only help save one person.”

In a statement made on the GoFundMe page, Emma wrote: ”All money raised will go to his loving wife Sian & family to help with costs for the funeral to help give Jay the best send off we can.

”He was tragically taken away from everyone at such a young age of 28.

”He was a husband who clearly doted on his wife.

”He was very well liked and had many friends. Colleagues, and anyone who knew him, will greatly miss him.

”He loved his horses very much and they will miss him. Please if you can give anything, it doesn’t matter how big or small, it will all help. ”

So far the fundraiser has raised more than £1,000. For more information, or to donate, click here.
