Loads of new roadworks schemes have started in Plymouth

Roadworks across the City Centre and local areas are among the newest roadworks schemes starting from today (January 6.)

From repairs to damaged cabinets to resurfacing works in January there are a number of road works to be aware of before setting off on your journeys.

No motorist wants to be caught up in traffic or have to divert due to road works they didn’t know about, so we have gathered the latest roadworks happening this month.

Fortunately though, Plymouth City Council has helpfully put out a list of roadworks that will be taking place across the city over the next week.

The council is responsible for coordinating works carried out by utility companies, developers and other organisations as well as their own repair, maintenance and improvement works.

Here’s the roadworks happening in Plymouth.

Union Street (junction with Lidl)

Vodaphone will be working to repair a damaged cabinet under three way signals at the junction of lidl between 18:30 pm and 5:00 am from Thursday 6 January until Friday 7.

Plymbridge Lane/ Blunts Lane

Balfour Beatty are laying HV cables under a footpath closure at the southwest junction with Langdale Gardens. This will be happening 24 hours from 6 January until March 31 2022.

Molesworth Road

Saftey Zone are working on Molesworth Road for vegetation curback work under two way singles between number 35 and 57 between 9:30 am and 15:30 pm. The work started on January 6 and is due to end on Friday 7 January.

Tavistock Road

South West Highways will be working on Tavistock Road for Installation of yellow box hatching works under Lane closures and Bus Gate suspension Lane 1 and 2, outbound from the opp Charlton, to the end of the Bus Gate. This will be between 19:00 pm to 06:00 am from January 6 and January 8.

Cobourg Street

Between Thursday 6 January and Wednesday 12 January South West Highways will be resurfacing safety zone works under a lane closure, lane two inbound from the junction with James Street of Drakes Circus. This will be between 19:00 pm and 6:00 am.

Drakes Circus (Junction between Blenheim Road and Charles Street)

Southwest Highways will be resurfacing works under a road closure between the junction with Blenheim Road and junction of Charles Street between 6 January and 12 January. This will be happening between 19:00 pm and 6:00 am.

Millbay Road (between the Pavillions car park and the Ferryport Roundabout)

South West water are working on Millbay Road for reinstatement works under two way signals between the Pavillions car park and Ferryport Roundabout between Wednesday 5 January and Friday 7 January between 9:03 am until 15:30 pm.

Drummond Place

There is 24 hour work happening on Drummond Place for drainage works under a road closure outside of number one, to the junction of Milne Place. The work started on 5 January and is due to finish on January 14.

Lockington Avenue

Wales and West are working on Lockington Avenue for gas main works under a road closure from junction with Russell Avenue to the junction of Bainbridge Road. There are 24 hour works, however residents access has been maintained. The work started on January 4 and is due to end on January 14.

Rothbury Gardens

Cityfibre are working on Rothbury Gardens for fibre cable works for 24 hours under multiway lights at the junction with Miller Way and the junction of Rheola Gardens. The work started yesterday on 4 January and will finish by January 17.

Thorn Park

South West water are working on Thorn Park for new water service works under a road closure outside Thorn Park Lodge. It is 24 hours and started on January 4 and is due to be completed by January 12.

Rothbury Gardens

Cityfibre are working on Rothbury Gardens for fibre cable works under multiway lights at the junction with Miller Way and the junction of Rheola Gardens for 24 hours between January 4 until January 17.
