Main Devon road closed after woman hit by lorry – updates

A pedestrian has been hit by a lorry on the main from Exeter to North Devon, in Crediton.

At 5.35pm, roads and traffic monitoring service Ibnrix reported that the A377 Western Road was blocked in both directions.

Inrix’s alert reads: “A377 Western Road in both directions blocked, slow traffic due to accident, a lorry and a pedestrian involved from Tesco Express to Crediton Hospital.

“Congestion to Higher Road as traffic diverts around the delays. Affecting traffic between Crediton and Copplestone.”

In a tweet, Bus operator Stagecoach said: “Due to an incident in Crediton, the road is currently closed at Lloyds TSB.

“The 5 will be terminating at Crediton Station and all through services will be going via Crediton Station, new link road and over the top to Barnstaple Cross. This is in both directions.”
