Multiple crashes after snow falls across parts of Cornwall

There have been a number of incidents on the A30 due to icy road conditions after temperatures dropped last night.

Last night, The Met Office predicted an 80% chance of snow for some parts of the county with some expected to see up to 14cm.

Some white flurries have been spotted on Dartmoor and on roads in parts of east Cornwall.

The A30 in both directions is partially blocked, with heavy traffic due to several incidents between A39 (Indian Queens) and B3274 (Victoria).

Police confirm there are multiple unrelated crashes on both sides of the road due to the icy conditions.

We have contacted Devon and Cornwall Police for more information.

On the A391 at Penwithick in Cornwall a crash has been reported as cars ‘slide off the road’, according to traffic service Inrix.

Video footage from the scene shows the road covered in snow.

Although some have woken up to proper snow, there are areas in the region which have only seen a light dusting and some sleet.

Other parts have just had rain.

As temperatures dropped below zero on Dartmoor overnight, drivers were warned that the roads may be icy and to be cautious.
