Plymouth Argyle conceded two second half goals – the first from a controversially awarded penalty – as they lost 2-0 to Lincoln City at Sincil Bank. Here are the Plymouth Live ratings for each player:
Mike Cooper 7 – Made an excellent early save from Brennan Johnson and that set the tone for a largely assured performance, although some of his kicking was wayward
Will Aimson 6 – Had to deal with the lively Jorge Grant a lot of the time as Lincoln exploited the space behind Argyle’s wing-backs on both sides of the pitch. He did not find his task easy but, to his credit, he stuck at it.
Kell Watts 7 STAR MAN – Showed maturity beyond someone of his 20 years of age. Asked to play a different role in the middle of the central defensive trio with Niall Canavan ruled out and passed the test with flying colours.
Jerome Opoku 5 – A late call-up to the team in the absence of Niall Canavan. He had his hands full all night with Lincoln’s speedy right-sided attacker Brennan Johnson.
Tyrese Fornah 6 – Put in a strong first half showing but when Lincoln stepped up the pace after the interval and forced Argyle onto the defensive his influence on the match waned.
Byron Moore 5 – He and Will Aimson could not combine to cancel out the threat of Jorge Grant throughout the game. Had one of the Pilgrims’ few attempts on goal but it was blocked by Lincoln’s Sean Roughan.
Panutche Camara 6 – Returned to the side after a three-match absence due to an injury, in place of Conor Grant in central midfield. Made the challenge on Brennan Johnson which led to Lincoln’s controversial 50th minute penalty, from which Jorge Grant opened the scoring.
Danny Mayor 7 – Captain for the night. Showed his class at times in the first half but, as with the rest of his team-mates, was much less effective in the second period.
George Cooper 5 – Argyle did not get enough out of the left wing-back going forward and Lincoln definitely had the tactic of trying to play the ball in behind at every opportunity for Brennan Johnson to race onto.
Frank Nouble 5 – Had one good scoring chance in the first half but his shot from a promising position lacked power and was easily saved by Alex Palmer. The only Pilgrims’ player booked, for a challenge on Lewis Montsma.
Timmy Abraham 5 – A willing runner up front in his first start for Argyle but there was not too much by way of end product. He and Frank Nouble saw little of the ball in the second half.

Ryan Hardie 6 – Sent on as part of a double substitution with Luke Jephcott in the 67th minute to replace Timmy Abraham and Frank Nouble. Within six minutes, Lincoln went 2-0 up and the game was effectively over.
Luke Jephcott 5 – Had one late chance for the Pilgrims but sent his shot into the side netting when more composure was needed.
Ben Reeves – Took over from Panutche Camara in the centre of midfield in the 76th minute, and set up Luke Jephcott for his good scoring opportunity with some clever play.
