Plymouth is getting a staycation-inspired bar and restaurant

A plush new staycation-inspired bar and restaurant is set to open in Plymouth’s historic Royal William Yard.

The Club House, which already has a venue in Liverpool, will take the empty unit which previously housed Latin American restaurant Las Iguanas.

The Liverpool site has been operating for five years and operator The New World Trading Company has chosen Plymouth as its newest location.

The Club House is set to open this spring and will serve dishes such as hanging kebabs and graze boards, as well as having a signature gin list and a collection of bottled beers and ciders.

Adam Wilde, senior operations manager for The Club House, “We’re delighted to bring our unique brand to a historic location like Plymouth. Joining NWTC offers the chance to develop on a personal and professional level; with unrivalled development opportunities to grow within our large family of brands.”

The venues Facebook page describes the soon-to-be site as a “timeless getaway for those in the know” and states it has a menu “that’s more like a banquet”.

A spokesperson for The Club House said: “With so many holidaymakers unsure if they will be able to jet off abroad this summer, there may be a solution for residents of Plymouth and Devon a little closer to home.

“The Club House, a bar-restaurant that promises a relaxed holiday-feeling all year round, is opening its doors this spring. Taking over the current Las Iguanas site in Royal William Yard, it is the second location for the brand after a successful five-year spell in Liverpool.

“The menu is set to be revealed in full later this month, however, a look at their existing menu will certainly wet locals’ appetites, with dishes such as hanging kebabs – a choice of five grilled skewers served on a signature stand with a pouring glaze – and House Boards to graze away the afternoon.

“Drinkers, on the other hand, will be eyeing up The Club House’s signature gin list, collection of bottled beers and ciders, and carefully concocted cocktails.

“Whilst it may be the first site in the region for The Club House, the operator behind the brand, The New World Trading Company, are no strangers to the South West of the UK with four other sites in Bristol, Cardiff, Bath and Cheltenham.”

The new venue also brings several jobs to the city and is looking for kitchen staff, bartenders and servers of all levels.
