Police appeal after elderly woman involved in car flip crash

Police are appealing for information after a crash in which an elderly woman managed to roll her car.

The incident happened shortly afternoon today (Saturday, September 26) on Yelland Road, Fremington, near the junction for Chilpark in North Devon.

Police have released a statement on the incident, revealing that the woman was taken to hospital having suffered a medical episode.

“At approximately 1210 hours on SATURDAY the 26th of September 2020 Police were called to a report of a vehicle on its roof on YELLAND ROAD, FREMINGTON near the junction for CHILPARK,” said the police statement.

“A small red hatchback driven by an elderly female had collided with the traffic island and amber flashing beacon causing the vehicle to roll and come to rest on its roof on the BARNSTAPLE bound carriageway.

“The driver of the vehicle was taken to NDDH having suffered a medical episode.

“Officers from the Roads Policing Team and local officers attended the scene to investigate.

“Anyone with any information that may help in investigating the incident are asked to call the Police on 101 quoting Log number 361 of 26th September 2020.”
