Devon and Cornwall Police are on the lookout for a driver that fled the scene after crashing his car on the A38 near Caton.
Officers were called to reports of a collision on the A38 near Caton just before 6pm this evening (Thursday, September 24).
Traffic reporting service Inrix said of the incident at the time: “One lane blocked and slow traffic due to accident on A38 Southbound near A383 (Goodstone Junction).
“Affecting traffic heading into Ashburton.”
Devon and Cornwall Police say that the single-vehicle traffic collision involved the vehicle spinning in the road and hitting the central reservation.
Upon arrival the driver had fled the scene, leading to police launching enquiries to locate the individual.
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Officers from Devon and Cornwall Police were called at 17:44 pm today [Thursday, September 24] to reports of an incident on the A30 at Caton.
“The incident involved a single-vehicle traffic collision, and it is believed the vehicle spun and hit the central reservation.
“Upon arrival, the driver of the vehicle involved had disappeared, and we are making enquiries in order to track down the driver.
“We believe we know the identity of the individual.”
