There are reports this afternoon that police officers are searching people’s gardens in Plymouth for a “weapon”.
Officers remain at the scene of an incident in North Stonehouse after a man was found deceased in a property yesterday.
Police responding to a 999 call attended the house in North Road West at around 4.20pm yesterday following reports of the man’s body being found.
A large cordon was put in place using police tape between Stoke Road and Cecil Street and access was prevented to vehicles at one point yesterday.
Officers remain at the scene today, and residents in the area have told Plymouth Live officers are searching their gardens for a “weapon”.
Earlier today, a police spokesperson said: “A forensic post mortem will be carried out at some point today whereupon we will have more information regarding the circumstances surrounding this man’s death.
“A scene guard will remain in place until that time”.
It is understood that the results of the post mortem may take until tomorrow to come back and as such police have to ensure the scene is secured to ensure any forensic evidence is not lost or tainted.
