Staff at Boots in Drake Circus test positive for coronavirus

A number of staff at Boots in Drake Circus have tested positive for coronavirus.

Despite the positive cases at Boots, a spokesperson for the store has confirmed it remains open.

A spokesperson for Boots said: ”We can confirm that there have been a small number of unrelated cases of colleagues from our Plymouth Drake Circus store who have tested positive for COVID-19.”

It comes after bath bomb shop Lush in the shopping mall temporarily closed last week, after a staff member tested positive for the virus.

The Boots statement said: ‘We have always taken the health and safety of our colleagues and customers incredibly seriously – and even more so throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

”All our stores follow strict safety measures, which include rigorous hygiene and cleaning routines, as well as following Government guidance on social distancing and use of PPE.

”After presenting with symptoms outside of work, the colleagues were tested and received a positive result. The colleagues have since self-isolated, following the guidance from the NHS and Test and Trace, and have not returned to work.

”After a full investigation we have completed a deep clean at the store as a precaution, and the store remains open to customers and patients.

”We’d like to wish our colleagues well and a speedy recovery.”
