Thousands of Tesco shoppers have just one week to spend their Clubcard vouchers

Tesco shoppers are being urged to spend their Clubcard vouchers before they expire next week and won’t be valid any more.

Whilst the supermarket giant did extend the use-by date on many of its vouchers during the Covid-19 pandemic, thousands of vouchers and discount codes will expire on August 31.

This means people that don’t spend them by then will lose the vouchers, worth money off their shopping or days out across the UK and beyond, reports The Mirror.

Tesco Clubcard vouchers typically have a two-year expiry period but the chain did extend the date on vouchers that expired in February 2021 to August 2021, to allow for people who weren’t able to use them during the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions to be able to use them after restrictions lifted.

Tesco Clubcard vouchers are one of the most popular shopping reward schemes, with shoppers earning points as they spend money in Tesco supermarkets, Tesco petrol stations and through Tesco Bank and Tesco Mobile.

Shoppers get one point for every £1 they spend in store and online, or one point for every £2 spent on fuel.

The points can then be converted into vouchers worth money off shopping or cinema trips, meals in restaurants and a range of other leisure activities through Tesco’s ‘Reward Partners’.

The minimum number of points a shopper has to have to be able to convert them into a voucher is 150 points (worth £1.50 to spend in-store at Tesco) and 500 points (usually worth £5) for a voucher for a day out or activity.

What’s more, if you use your points for a voucher for a Tesco Rewards Partner, such as Bella Italia, Pizza Express or Prezzo, your points are worth double or even triple their worth – so 500 points, usually worth £5, can be worth £15 to spend..

The full list of Reward Partners can be found on the Tesco clubcard website.

How to track down lost Clubcard vouchers

You can check if you have forgotten vouchers by logging into the Tesco Clubcard website with your account details.

Once you are logged in, click on “my Clubcard account” and then “vouchers” and you should see a table listing the vouchers you still have to spend.

You can spend any leftover vouchers online straight away, or print them out from home if you would rather use them in store.

If yours are close to expiring, but you do not want to spend them just yet, there is a trick to extend them – turn your coupons into Faster Vouchers and they will last 21 months from the date you convert your vouchers.

This means you could get an extra 21 months use out of them beyond the usual two-year expiry date.
