Two people are believed to have sustained injuries after a crash on Torridge Bridge in Bideford this afternoon which continues to cause delays on the busy road.
Police were called at around 3.30pm this afternoon following reports of the collision which involved three vehicles.
Fire and ambulance crews are also at the scene, and one of the vehicles involved is reportedly leaking fluid.
Highways have been called to assist with this incident, in which two people are believed to have sustained injuries.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at 3.30pm to Torridge Bridge on the A39 following reports of a three vehicle collision.
“Fire, Ambulance and Police are in attendance and one vehicle is reported to be leaking fluid.
“Highways have also been called to assist.
“Two people are believed to have sustained injuries – severity is unknown at this time
“The incident is ongoing at this time.”
Inrix reports that the collision is affecting traffic between Barnstaple and Bideford in both directions, and delays are potentially even longer due to ongoing roadworks on the A386 approaching the roundabout.
The report from Inrix says: “A39 Torridge Bridge in both directions blocked long delays, queueing traffic due to accident, three cars involved from A386 Heywood Road (Heywood Road roundabout, Northam) to B3233 (Instow Turn Off, Westleigh).
“Congestion to the B3233 Barnstaple Street as traffic diverts around the delays. In the roadworks area.
“Affecting traffic between Barnstaple and Bideford. Also there are delays due to the ongoing roadworks on the A386 Heywood Road approaching the roundabout.”
